The new clean diesel buses will replace buses in the county that are more than 14-years-old. Officials say the newer buses will provide cleaner emissions, lower fuel consumption and a lower cost per mile to operate.
Greg Kilmer, the Broome County Public Transportation Commissioner spoke about the buses.
“These buses have some newer technology on them and a lot of it relates to the emissions system and the efficiency. The bus industry is continuously getting greener and getting better with their engine management systems,” said Kilmer.
