A Washington D.C.-based organization that supports the diesel engine industry says the state of Indiana continues to be one of the leading manufacturers of heavy-duty diesel engines in the country with more than 8,300 Hoosier jobs directly related to the diesel-manufacturing sector.
The top diesel engine maker in the country is Columbus-based Cummins Inc. (NYSE: CMI). Schaeffer says Cummins, which announced a joint venture with Hyundai Motor Company to develop more hydrogen fuel cell technology, is positioning itself to succeed.
“It's all about the economy, and the demand for more efficient, environmentally clean products, and the industry is really stepped up to deliver that in a way that,” said Schaeffer.
