A diesel locomotive billed as the cleanest in the world made its debut Tuesday at the Stockton Terminal and Eastern Railroad.
“A small railroad like ours does not burn a lot of fuel annually and we could not internally justify spending corporate resources on a project of this size,” he said. “However, with a public-private partnership, it made sense for us to do so.”
He says the locomotive is 93 percent cleaner than a standard locomotive and has 40 to 50 percent savings in fuel.
