The line of Caterpillar Inc. utility vehicles introduced last year is expanding — both in the number of models and seats available in them.
Two new models of Cat UTV announced Tuesday in Deerfield build on the familiar platforms of the debut machines — one gasoline powered, the other diesel — but with an extra row of seating to accommodate up to five occupants each.
The latest models have 1,000 pounds of rear cargo capacity and 2,000 pounds of towing capacity. The 0.8-liter three-cylinder gasoline-powered engine in the CUV85 generates 50 horsepower, while the 1.0-liter three-cylinder diesel engine in the CUV105 D delivers 25 horsepower.
