New Haven Department of Public Works trucks retrofitted to cut diesel emissions

The city showcased one of six Department of Public Works trucks Tuesday at Public Works Headquarters that were retrofitted with diesel exhaust filters. The filters will eliminate 95 percent of particulate matter, 85 percent of unburned hydrocarbons and 75 percent of carbon monoxide that billows out of truck exhaust pipes in the form of dark smoke.
