On November 2, 2006 the Diesel Technology forum hosted a retrofit technology demonstration at the annual meeting of the Association of Metropolitan Planning Organizations (AMPO). Transportation planners attending the meeting were able to see a retrofitted school bus, transit bus and skidsteer loader in addition to cutaways of various retrofit equipments. Donaldson, Cummins, Caterpillar and Johnson Matthey representatives were present to answer questions about their technology and its applications.

During the conference, the Diesel Technology Forum released its new retrofit whitepaper, Retrofitting America's Diesel Engines, A Guide to Cleaner Air Through Cleaner Diesel and moderated a transportation and air quality panel on CMAQ Funding for Diesel Retrofit Projects. The Diesel Technology Forum has also hosted its own Clean Diesel, Clean Air events to highlight the air quality benefits of retrofitting older diesel vehicles and equipment.
