Diesel engine maker to build training center in Cherokee

The American unit of a Japanese diesel engine manufacturer has acquired more than 50 acres in Cherokee County for a $20 million training and “customer experience facility” for outdoor demonstrations of heavy equipment, the company and state economic development officials announced.

The nearly 50,000-square-foot facility will have classrooms with dedicated space for each of the company’s product lines: industrial diesel engines and generators, commercial marine diesel engines, agricultural and construction equipment, utility vehicles and energy systems, Yanmar said.
