"For example, today's trucks and buses and some off-road equipment produce 80 percent less particulate matter and nitrogen oxide emissions - a key ingredient in the formation of smog - than those built 10 years ago." The Faster Freight - Cleaner Air Conference will present success stories and examples of infrastructure improvement strategies in light of increasing congestion and air quality concerns in California. The conference will demonstrate innovative diesel technology, including:
Experts will be on-hand to discuss issues such as accessing the billions of dollars in funding available for goods movement, innovations in low-emission fuel transportation technologies, navigating current and future regulatory requirements and collaborating with industry leaders, public agencies and others to improve operations. The Diesel Technology Forum will host the conference keynote luncheon on Thursday, Dec. 9, featuring Barbara Kaufman, director of Governor Schwarzenegger's San Francisco office. ### The Diesel Technology Forum represents manufacturers of engines, fuel and emissions control systems. It brings together the diesel industry, the broad diesel user community, civic and public interest leaders, government regulators, academics, scientists, the petroleum industry and public health researchers to encourage the exchange of information, ideas, scientific findings and points-of-view to current and future uses of diesel power technology.
