EPA Picks KC For Environmental Initiative

Cindy Kemper, director of the Johnson County Environmental Department, said the county is particularly involved in the idle-reduction program. "Johnson County is becoming very involved in rail centers and warehousing associated with rail centers," Kemper said. "So we're interested in reducing emissions from diesel trucks."
Johnson County has been working separately for several months with its school districts to promote idle reduction in school loading zones, Kemper said. The county also is working to reduce idling at its county buildings using signage to discourage excessive idling. Read the full story.
