Diesel: The Power of Choice for Business Continuity, Risk Mitigation and Disaster Preparedness

Business Continuity Center in Altoona Nears Completion:

One-of-a-Kind Facility in Des Moines to Allow Businesses in Iowa and Surrounding States to Cost-Effectively Mitigate Risk and Support Business Continuity

ALTOONA, Iowa & DES MOINES, Iowa, Jul 26, 2006 (BUSINESS WIRE) -- LightEdge Solutions, LBC Technology and Ladco Development today announced that construction of the Edge Business Continuity Center (EdgeBCC) is on schedule and has reached a major milestone as the external structure and roof have been completed and passed testing. The parking lot, concrete placement pads for diesel backup generators and data center cooling units have also been finished in preparation for an estimated grand opening date of November 1, 2006.

EdgeBCC is a 30,000-square-foot, state-of-the-art facility engineered to provide businesses with a safe haven for protecting their data assets and ensuring critical business operations during a natural disaster to unplanned interruption. The facility has been designed and tested to withstand 200 mph sustained winds, sits atop two separate power grids and includes redundant connections to the Internet. In addition to a full range of data center services, Edge BCC offers disaster recovery workspace with fully-equipped, plug-and-play voice and data connectivity.

"EdgeBCC is really a unique endeavor. The collaboration of Ladco, LBC and LightEdge brings a great deal of knowledge and experience to the table that usually isn't found with a single business," said Skip Williams, vice president of sales for Binomial, a national business continuity consulting group. "This facility is indicative of a growing trend toward business continuity for small and medium businesses. EdgeBCC can make this a reality for businesses in Iowa and surrounding states."

"Business continuity has long been an important component in the risk mitigation strategies of large companies," said Jim Masterson, chairman and chief executive officer of LightEdge Solutions. "More and more, small and midsize businesses are increasing their reliance on technology, and therefore need to consider the same types of business continuity and disaster recovery initiatives. EdgeBCC will not only help the businesses through a disastrous event, but also positively impact their productivity on a daily basis."

"Upon completion, EdgeBCC will be the only building of its kind in the Des Moines metro area allowing businesses from Iowa and surrounding states to utilize secure and redundant data center facilities for normal business operations and disaster recovery workspace during a natural disaster or other business interruption," said Peder Malchow, president of LBC Technology. "On a national level, the facility will allow businesses in hurricane or earthquake-prone areas to host applications or store data in a world-class facility located in the relative safety of the Midwest."

To manage the facility, EdgeBCC has appointed technology veteran Travis Thompson as chief operating officer. Thompson brings 14 years of experience with the security and engineering processes associated with wide area networking, voice-over-Internet-protocol (VoIP) and storage networking. Currently a Cisco Certified Internetwork Expert (CCIE) and a Cisco Certified Security Specialist (CCSP), Thompson will oversee daily operations including monitoring of the site's two data centers, coordinating the usage and testing of the disaster recovery workspace and administering the security of both the physical building and the private network.

The building is expected to open by November 1, 2006, with a grand opening ceremony scheduled for September 26, 2006. Facility tours are available through LBC and LightEdge. To make a risk-free reservation for disaster recovery workspace, data center space or managed services, contact LBC or LightEdge.
