President Obama Takes First GHG Actions

Jan 26, 2009

On January 26 President Obama sent a memo asking EPA to “assess” the Bush administration’s decision to deny California’s request for a Clean Air Act waiver to implement GHG emissions standards for vehicles. He also sent a memo to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) asking it to issue its final rule on increasing the CAFE standards as required by the 2007 Energy Independence & Security Act. Copies of the EPA and NHTSA memos are available here.
