New Online Hub for Clean Diesel

Redesigned Website Highlights Clean Diesel’s Contribution

Oct 15, 2008

Washington, D.C. (Oct. 16, 2008) – As interest in the environment and clean-energy alternatives grows, the Diesel Technology Forum launched a new online hub for consumers, business leaders and policymakers to find the latest information on clean diesel, from technology breakthroughs to diesel’s role in the U.S. economy.

The new www.dieselforum.org features enhanced video, graphics and interactive features that bring the story of clean diesel to life, illustrating the differences between gasoline and diesel engines, the environmental progress over the last decade and the many other ways clean diesel touches American life.

We hope that visitors to the site will gain a new appreciation for the amazing transformation clean diesel fuel and engine technologies have made," said Allen Schaeffer, executive director of the Diesel Technology Forum. “For instance, today’s trucks and buses emit 98-percent fewer pollutants than those produced a decade ago; and a slew of new clean diesel cars that get up to 40 percent better fuel economy than gasoline engines are now hitting the roads.”

 The new site will:

  • Allow consumers to compare the fuel costs and savings of diesel-powered engines to gasoline-powered engines
  • Host educational webinars on a wide range of topics, from technical standards to sustainability and policy issues
  • Share helpful tips on diesel-retrofit requirements and updates on state and federal funding programs
  • Highlight legislative and regulatory issues
  • Provide detailed information on state issues and requirements, with a special California section

The redesigned website features information on a wide range of diesel applications, including passenger cars and trucks; heavy-duty big rigs; off-road vehicles used in construction; public-safety devices such as ambulances, fire trucks and emergency generators; diesel-electric hybrid buses; and next-generation biofuels.
