EPA just announced more than $156 million worth of diesel retrofit projects under the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009, yet this represents only about 13 percent of the almost 600 applications it received under the National Clean Diesel Funding Assistance Program. 
 

Stiff competition meant many good applications were denied funding. EPA representatives reviewed the recent DERA round as a means of offering guidance to future applicants. In addition, representatives from Illinois EPA and the Contractors Association of Western Pennsylvania discussed their experiences and provided insight on how to build partnerships and create a winning application for the second DERA competition in 2009 for the Fiscal Year 2009 funds.
