New diesel propulsion system cuts shipping emissions by 75%

Instead of placing the engines at the rear of the vessel, the Gamma Propulsion System, places sets of diesel electric units down the vessel's sides. The placement allows the vessel to better produce thrust with less resistance from the surrounding water.

The developers claim that this allows a ship that previously needed 4,000 horsepower engines to achieve the same speed using only 1,000 horsepower.
