The Diesel Technology Forum actively recruits leaders in the diesel industry to reflect all responsible voices in the public debate.

Member companies currently involved in the Forum include industries where diesel power is a critical factor, such as:

  • Diesel equipment manufacturers
  • Diesel equipment aftermarket
  • Fuels and refining
  • Trucking, agriculture, public transportation, port, stationary, mining, construction application fleets

By supporting the Forum and participating in DTF activities, your organization will have the opportunity to shape the outcome of the debate – thereby preserving your interest in the future of diesel power. Membership applications are reviewed by the Board of Directors and approved by majority vote.

Benefits of Membership

The Diesel Technology Forum is the only organization dedicated solely to promoting a viable future for diesel power. First and foremost, your membership contribution goes towards a full-time effort to promote the progress and potential of the diesel industry. In addition, it will support the Forum’s efforts toward building a greater appreciation of the value and importance of diesel technology, and the companies that are the leaders in the industry.

Direct Benefits

  • Participation on committees. DTF is an organization led by its members through committee work.  The Policy & Communications Committee develops and reviews DTF’s basic policies and key messages, and recommends overall strategies and implementation for carrying out our mission.
    • Issues and opportunities are discussed in committee and decided for consideration by the Board of Directors and the Executive Committee.
    • Member companies are encouraged to involve technical, communications and marketing staff in the activities of the DTF.
  • Opportunities for media referrals, editorial board, roundtables and interviews. DTF maintains a database of more than 3,000 journalists who cover diesel issues and frequently receives requests for interviews.  DTF members interested in media opportunities will get referrals, and DTF solicits opportunities for editorial board meetings with leading national newspapers. We also seek to organize opportunities for DTF members to meet with key reporters from national newspapers such as The Wall Street Journal, The New York Times, USA Today, and the Washington Post.
  • Customized educational and general awareness sessions. DTF is available to prepare and deliver a customized program to your employees, dealers and sales representatives about the work of the Forum. This includes key areas such as the value of diesel technology and upgrading diesel emissions.
  • Executive Communications Workshops. DTF members will be eligible to participate in regional executive communications workshops held each year around the country.  These day-long workshops offer insight and information into how to effectively communicate with customers, the media and policymakers about the value of diesel technology.  Sessions include mock interviews, on-camera taping and reviews.
  • Support for company promotions for clean diesel activities. From sharing our extensive media database to issuing press releases and web postings, the Diesel Technology Forum works with member companies to promote events and activities related to clean diesel.
  • Opportunities for policymaker meetings and discussions. Conversations with key legislative and regulatory policymakers are a regular ongoing part of DTF. We seek to provide Forum members with unique opportunities for discussions and exchanges of information with those helping to decide the future for diesel technology.
  • Website promotion of member company activities and technologies. Our website is the nexus for information about clean diesel technology and leaders like you.  The Forum’s site includes resources and whitepapers, and captures the latest diesel news. In short, it is the one-stop shop for journalists and policymakers to learn more about clean diesel technology.
  • Inclusion in key meetings and exhibiting opportunities. Outreach to policy and decision makers also occurs in the form of technical and general information exhibits at EPA, DOE, and high-profile meetings such as the National Conference of State Legislatures. DTF members are welcomed to participate and provide technologies at these events.

Activities

The Diesel Technology Forum’s broad-based program is designed to help shape the outcome of the debate over future diesel power, including:

  • Creating a body of public policy research and developing rapid respond to public attacks mounted by government or activist critics through the media.
  • Conducting effective media relations with trade press, leading national newspapers and magazines, web outlets, and radio and television programs.
  • Raising the level of the debate through thoughtful editorial placements by third parties in the nation's leading media. Placing DTF representatives in appropriate seminars, workshops, industry meetings, government-sponsored symposia, and other public platforms where diesel is being discussed.
  • Monitoring media coverage and regulatory activities on a continuous basis, as well as communicating news and information to member companies.
  • Developing economic, technical, and regulatory research to help inform and shape tactical activities for the Forum. Making research available to member companies and allied third parties. Recruiting credible third parties to participate in and independently support Forum activities.
  • Develop relationships with public sector agencies to discuss demonstration programs that demonstrate "clean diesel technology" for government agencies and consumer audiences.
  • Participate in government-industry councils to ensure that practical, realistic remedies such as retrofit programs are implemented to address in-use diesel equipment.
  • Develop and manage an up-to-date web site that puts the Forum at the center of interactive debate on the diesel issues.

No one company could do all these things. That is why the Diesel Technology Forum is a pillar for every company that has a stake in the debate over the future of clean diesel power. Working together, the industry can leverage its collective strengths to foster a new attitude toward the next generation of new clean diesel technology.
